Ryan Carr Toronto, Ontario

After living in London, England for 3 years it was time for me to come back to the motherland. I have forced all my jazz school music geek friends to play my alternative roots songs with me and I LOVE IT! Hopefully there are enough chords to keep them interested. My second EP "Lullabies For City Life" is out now. Have a listen and let me know what you think.

Track Name: Unfinished Business
That the blood is fiery baggage
That ground must eventually smooth us down
Under it's large hooped skirt
These the rife mysteries tonight

Awaken me to your face
A doorway, just ajar I want always
To your bright animal eyes
And the fierce softness behind attend

Under night slopes the drowsy liquid moon
Let us learn to walk on air
Hold hands and vanish together
I am in your keeping until then
Track Name: A Simple Introduction
I don’t know why/you’re nice to me
It’s in the past/so you don’t have to be
When we first met/you seemed hell bent
On treating me/indifferent

But I told you jokes/and showed you tricks
And slowly wore down/you’re defences
Oh how I worked/on my act
Cause I loved/to hear you laugh

Then came along/that other guy
Who was much taller/and funnier than I
Now I cannot/blame you
For it was I/who introduced you two

Never again/will I make
Such a stupid/mistake
For now I know/of the destruction
That can come from/a simple introduction
Track Name: Eight Million People
Eight million people/live all around me
In relentless pursuit/of their dreams

In this old city/of vast architectural hopes
There are no destinations/just ancient labyrinthine roads

Eight million people/live all around me
In relentless pursuit/of their dreams

Ambitions collide/and desires erupt
Wants become needs/and needs are forgot

Eight million people/live all around me
Track Name: Early Morning Song
There is a song/nobody’s heard
It’s just between/me and the birds

The tune/never stays the same
And the words/ they always change

An early morning song/to greet the break of day

Today/there is no routine
To guide my thoughts/toward my dreams

Like the snow/I start to melt
And disappear/into the ground

An early morning song/to greet break of day

The children/begin to rise
Unencumbered/by the sleep in their eyes

Their footsteps/fill the air
As they/come down the stairs

An early morning song/to greet break of day
An early morning song/to greet break of day
